Any applicant who successfully completes our Meteorology (Operational Level) (MIDATL-316) course will satisfy the Meteorology knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements of Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010; and the approved training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(xiii) for certification as an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of 500 gross tons (ITC) or more.

The specific assessment tasks from the National Assessment Guidelines found in NVIC 12-14 (CH-2); Tasks 1.9, 1.10, and 1.11.
The specific assessment tasks from the National Assessment Guidelines found in NVIC 13-14 (Ch-1); Tasks 1.11.A, 1.12A and 1.13A.

The objective of this course is to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency in Table 2 (Subjects For Deck Officer Endorsements) to Part 11.910 of Title 46, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Table A-II/1 to STCW Code as amended for the function Meteorology at the Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage. This course will provide students with detailed knowledge to support the training outcomes related to navigation at the operational level and in doing so satisfy national and international regulations for candidates for certification as follows in accordance with Table A-II/1: Specification of minimum standard of competence for officers in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more.

• Ability to use and interpret information obtained from shipborne meteorological instruments
• Knowledge of the characteristics of the various weather systems, reporting procedures and recording systems
