Indian Ocean Maritime Training Centre
East Africa's premier maritime training center is located in Watamu, 100 kilometers north of Mombasa on the white beaches of the Indian Ocean.
With the increasing demand for a qualified and certified workforce, professional training becomes a key issue for all stakeholders in the maritime labour market. The lack of proper training in East Africa has curbed opportunities for individuals to obtain the level of competence required to reach better employment.
It is IOMTC’s commitment to offer course programs to individuals, NGO’s, corporate and government clients at the highest level of professionalism and competence to improve their safety and to become more competitive actors in an increasingly globalized world.
We have trained students in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, DRC, South Sudan, Somalia, and the CAR. While our emphasis is maritime training, many of our courses are adaptable to shore based situations like shopping centers, office buildings, factories, hotels, schools and other places where public safety is a concern.

The thoroughness of the STCW training is impeccable. Claudio our trainer was patient and made sure we understood the purpose of the training was to ensure our safety, that of others and the vessel in any type of emergency at sea. The practical sessions were detailed with practical drills for using equipment for fire fighting and righting a life raft. I feel more confident after the training and would highly recommend IOMTC for anyone who plans to work at sea.
