Seagrass Marine is a family-run maritime training provider based in Oban on Scotland's west coast, specialising in practical marine engineering and commercial maritime training. Our focus is simple: delivering real skills, real confidence, and real competence, not just certificates.

We are an MCA-approved training provider for the Approved Engine Course (AEC) programme and currently deliver:

• MCA Approved Engine Course Part 1 (AEC1)
• MCA Approved Engine Course Part 2 (AEC2)

Our courses are designed for crew, skippers, engineers, and those working towards qualifications under the Workboat Code and other commercial vessel requirements. Training combines classroom learning with extensive hands-on practical activities using marine engines, workshop equipment, tools, and testing equipment.

Training is delivered from our dedicated facilities in Oban, Scotland, providing a friendly and supportive learning environment with small class sizes and direct access to experienced instructors. We pride ourselves on making complex engineering topics approachable, regardless of a student's previous experience. AEC1 is suitable for beginners, while AEC2 builds on the knowledge gained during AEC1 through more advanced fault-finding and engineering activities.
