Any applicant who has successfully completed our Management of Electrical & Electronic Control Equipment (MEECE) (MIDATL-176) course will satisfy the Management of Electrical & Electronic Control Equipment training requirements of 46 CFR 11.325(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3); 46 CFR 11.327(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3); 46 CFR 11.331(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3); and 46 CFR 11.333(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3).
The objective of this course is to present relevant and clear information to help marine and electrical engineers acquire the knowledge required by STCW for management and operational level endorsements and to become more familiar with various electrical applications that can be found onboard ships.
Every student for certification as chief engineer officer and second engineer officer of seagoing ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW power or more is required to demonstrate ability to undertake, at the management level, the tasks, duties, and responsibilities listed in column 1 of table A-III/2 of the STCW Code. The minimum knowledge, understanding, and proficiency required for certification is listed in column 2 of table A-III/2. This incorporates, expands, and extends in depth the subjects listed in column 2 of table A-III/1 for officers in charge of an engineering watch.
