Course Brief

This course is a pre-requisite for entry to the Merchant Navy and conforms to the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) standard. The course also forms part of the 5 day STCW Combined course.

Course content
Delegates successfully completing the course will have gained experience and knowledge of:

• Appreciation of body structure and functions
• Applying resuscitation techniques
• Introduction to First Aid
• Control of bleeding
• Application of appropriate measures in the event of burns, scalds and electric currents
• Shock management and signs and symptoms
• Unconscious casualty
• Effects of extreme temperature
• Rescue and transportation of casualty
