The STCW Ship Security Officer (SSO), aligned with STCW Code A-VI/6-2, is an online training course designed for maritime professionals pursuing shipboard security leadership. It covers security plans, threat responses, and officer responsibilities to build expertise and compliance with international safety regulations.

This course provides knowledge to those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Ship Security Officer (SSO), as defined in section A/2.1.6 (and section A/12) of the ISPS Code and in section A-VI/5 of the STCW Code, as amended.
Graduates will be able to implement and maintain a Ship Security Plan, liaise with the Company Security Officer (CSO) and Port Facility Security Officers (PFSOs), and address piracy and armed robbery concerns.
