**STCW Basic Safety Training (BST)**
The STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) course provides mariners with the essential safety knowledge and practical skills required to work safely aboard commercial vessels in compliance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). This comprehensive program is designed for individuals seeking employment in the maritime industry, as well as current seafarers requiring certification to meet international maritime regulations.
Throughout the course, participants receive training in Personal Survival Techniques (PST), Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF), Elementary First Aid (EFA), and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR). Students learn how to respond effectively to shipboard emergencies, survive at sea, prevent and combat onboard fires, provide basic medical care, and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment aboard vessels.
The course combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical exercises, including liferaft operations, water survival skills, emergency evacuation procedures, firefighting evolutions, casualty assessment, and first aid scenarios. Upon successful completion, participants will possess the foundational competencies necessary to work aboard commercial ships, offshore vessels, passenger vessels, and other maritime operations worldwide.
This training meets the requirements established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and STCW Convention standards and serves as a mandatory certification for most seafarers serving on internationally operating vessels.
