All seafarers performing any role employed on commercial vessels where the ISPS Code applies are required to hold a Proficiency in Security Awareness certificate. This course is designed to meet those training requirements.

Course Content

The course is run over around 5 hrs and covers:

  • The ISPS Code
  • Threats to the maritime transport industry
  • Maritime security definitions
  • Security roles and responsibilities
  • Company and Ship security requirements
  • Security threat levels
  • Security measures and procedures

Qualification

Candidates will receive a Proficiency In Security Awareness certificate issued by Eos Risk Group.

Opportunities

Attendees to the course will further their knowledge of both the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and maritime security in general. There is no prior training or experience required. However, basic literacy and numeracy are required due to course content & knowledge of the maritime industry would be useful.
