Security training for seafarers with designated security duties.
SDSD
Target group
Seafarers who are not appointed as Ship Security Officers, but are charged with security tasks according to the ship security plan must have a Designated Security Duties certificate.
Contents of the course
According to the requirements of STCW section A-VI/6 and has been drawn up based on IMO model course 3.26 and 3.27.
- Knowledge of, amongst other things:
- The meaning and consequences of the various security levels.
- Knowledge of the ship security plan, the procedures and the precautionary measures (including the procedures for gaining access to the ship).
- Observing and recognizing security risks.
- Observing and recognizing, on a non-discriminatory basis, the characteristics and behavioural patterns of people who may threaten security.
- Techniques used to bypass security measures.
- Knowledge of security documentation (including the Declaration of Security (DoS)).
- Knowledge of frisking and unobtrusive inspections.
- Knowledge of any safety devices on board.
Duration
1 day.
Lesson times: 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
The dates of the course can be decided through consultation. On request, the course can be held in-company.
Certification
If participants pass the final exam, they are awarded an official (ILenT/Scheepvaart approved) STCW'78, as amended, certificate and the seaman's book is stamped. STC B.V. is recognized by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport) under the institute code NL007.
Remarks
To be sent prior to starting the course: one passport photograph (with name and date of birth written on the back) and a copy of the participant's personal information from the municipal personal records database or an enlarged photocopy of their passport.
The course can be given in English.
