Course Description

This one day course is designed to provide ship’s officers and ratings the required knowledge to deal with matters related to safety of passengers during an emergency.  The MNTB standard requires the following learning objectives to be met during training:

  • Understand the importance of ship board emergency procedures and knows how to organise them
  • Control the response to emergencies on board
  • Control passengers and other personnel during emergency situations
  • Establish and maintain effective communications during emergency situations

This course requires refresher training to be undertaken at an interval not exceeding 5 years. This training can either be taken on-board during drills provided all learning objectives stated above are covered. Alternatively, the full course should be undertaken at an MCA approved training centre to refresh the knowledge on topics covered.

NB:   This course can be combined with Passenger Safety and Hull Integrity for RoRo Passenger Ships and Crowd Management Training.

Upon successful completion of the course, all candidates are issued with Crisis Management & Human Behaviour Course certificate which must be obtained prior to joining a ship if an individual is expected to be assigned duties relevant to passenger operations on-board a ship.
