Course Description
This course provides the candidates with an understanding of stability issues for vessels that fall within the Workboat Code i.e. workboats, pilot boats and small commercial vessels. The Workboat Code states that ‘the master of any workboat which is required to be provided with a ‘Stability Information Booklet’ should have attended an approved Stability Course for Workboats..
Even though, the course is not mandatory for smaller vessels but those who work on small workboats, tugs and other vessels will certainly benefit from attending this course. MGN 411 states that the skippers of vessels less than 16.5m and anyone taking a navigational watch on any vessel should voluntarily undertake the 1 day stability awareness course.
Upon successful completion of the course, all candidates will be issued with a course completion certificate.
