Just completed the medicare refresher course. My second time refreser at the seamanship centre and found the course informative and very well delivered. Most importantly, the course went ahead despite low numbers which is a big plus when a lot of centres would just cancel at short notice.

Highly recommend the Seamanship Centre! I’ve been doing courses there for over the past two years and have to say it’s the best centre I’ve been to for doing these. I completed my Yacht Masters offshore Theory, essential STCWs, Deck Crane & Slinger banks man, AEC1&2, EDH and HELM course. Every instructor teaching these course have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry and will tell you some amazing stories while teaching. They are all very friendly, fair and helpful when teaching and have been a pleasure to learn from. Ricky, John, Helen, Karl and James! Having so many course in the one centre and on so often was a great help to getting many completed quickly which helped securing a job right away in the yachting industry. Along with the doing the course in Killybegs you get to enjoy the experience of being in Irelands biggest fishing port seeing the super trawlers, beautiful Donegal coast and friendly locals. You just couldn’t beat it! Ricky is also a great help in guiding you in the right direction in any of the industry across the sea. Thanks and see you in a few years for the refreshers!

I completed three courses here in the last 3 months; AEC 1 & 2 and the EDH/AB course for working in the yachting industry. The instructors here are the best I’ve had so far, with a huge deal of information and experience as all have worked or still work on ships and vessel across the world.

I will be back for the Medical First aid and other courses in this course and I’d highly recommend this course to anyone coming from the yachting background as it’s the most price competitive course out there!

Just completed both the AEC1 & AEC2 at the Seamanship Training Centre. Excellently organised courses with very knowledgeable instructors. Any questions were answered in detail and I would highly recommend this place for any maritime course! Instructor is above and beyond to provide great knowledge from the first hand as he works on board. That gives lots of great videos and other materials straight from Engine Room! Thank you for this 2 weeks, I feel I learnt lots of good things.

Avoid if you do their STCW course and want to gain employment on yachts. They don’t include one of the important modules (fire fighting) on it and without it your STCW is useless for getting employment on yachts. I mentioned it to them during the training, and was told it wasn’t needed for employment on yachts. I’ve been trying to get a job and I can’t without it! So €900 down the drain and now I have to pay that again to get it to go abroad as can’t seem to get anywhere in Ireland!

Great courses and great instructors. Really enjoyed my time at the centre and have a much deeper understanding of a whole range of topics that I studied there. Can’t recommend them enough and cannot stress enough how brilliant the instructors are. No matter your level of knowledge, they really will go above and beyond to ensure you get value for money and leave understanding with confidence, all topics within the course work. My thanks to everyone at the seamanship centre

Just competed both the AEC 1, AEC 2 and slinger/banksman course at The Seamanship Centre. Both James and Richard delivered top quality courses and gave an in depth course delivery that’s far above and beyond the rest. Not only did James deliver the course well but gave us an on the job experience in his day to day life as a full time sea going officer this is experience and knowledge you can’t get from a PowerPoint presentation that so many other training centres focus on. Thanks again and I look forward to working with you in the future.

I recently completed Approved Engine Courses 1 & 2 in The Seamanship Centre, Killybegs. I also completed my Yachtmaster 200 Offshore here several years ago.
Richard Timony has a natural rapport with people and communicates very well with attendees. I found the courses very informative and well presented.
James King delivered the second part of the engine course in a professional manner. His marine knowledge and experience is second to none. This was demonstrated using presentations and videos based on his current role as Chief Engineer on the Granuaile.
I would highly recommend the centre and instructors for seafarers looking to advance in the industry.
