Purpose:

The course meets the requirements of the STCW Convention Section IV / 2 and is based on the IMO Model 1.25 guidelines. Every person on duty and using a radio and connected to the GMDSS system must hold a Radio Operator Certificate that is adapted to the requirements of the International Telecommunication Union.

A ten-day course for obtaining the GMDSS General Operator's Certificate in accordance with STCW A-IV/2: DSC, INMARSAT, NAVTEX, EPIRB, SART, MF/HF/VHF communications, distress, urgency, and safety procedures, and the radio log.

This course is designed to satisfy the requirements of Appendix 3, IMO Resolution A.703 (17) - Recommendations for training radio operator with general authority.

The course meets the demands of n ational legislation in accordance with Annex D of the professions and cerificates of seafarers, 29.10.2013. is sued by the Ministry of Sea Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure and IMO Model 25/01.
The course is intended for all members of the crew whose duties include working with the radio communications equipment on board.
After successful completion of the course, trainees will understand the importance of radio communications according to SOLAS in (Safety of Life at Sea), 1974, and will acquire the necessary skills for independent handling of radio communiactions devices, and in particular in cases of distress.

Enrollment conditions:

• Identity card or passport
• 1 color image
• Certificate of completion of education (at least elementary school) - translated in Croatian language
• Medical examination (not older than 6 months) issued by clinic for seafarers-has to be STCW approved, EU approved countries medical - noting it is for GMDSS course
• At least 18 years of age

Remark:

After completing the course and examination at the Harbor Master's Office, candidates will receive a certificate from GMDSS radio operator issued by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia
