Establish open culture between bridge team members, effective resource management and communication to enhance bridge operations and decision making as well as plan passage and understand ships movement including prevailing conditions such as wind, current, shallow water, banks, narrow channels and condition of loading.
Course covers STCW Convention Sections A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-VIII/2 Including:

  • IMO Model Course 1.40 Leadership and managerial skills
  • IMO Model course 1.39 Leadership and teamwork
  • IMO Model course 1.22 Ship simulator and bridge teamwork

  • Need for international maritime conventions, recommendations and national legislation
  • Involvement of human in error chain
  • Bridge team duties, responsibilities, teamwork

Entry Requirements

• Certificate of Competence as officer in charge of a navigational watch and should present appropriate diploma/certificate; or
• Evidence that is in progress studying on the educational program of Officer in Charge of an Navigational Watch.
