The Master and the person designated in charge of the medical provision onboard a UK flagged vessel must update the PMC at least every five years.

This U.K. MCA Approved three-day updating course is for Masters and other personnel designated to take charge of medical care on UK or EU flagged vessels who are required to undertake updating training in Proficiency in Medical Care every five years. The classroom-based course is delivered as a combination of theory sessions and practical exercises.

The course is intensive in nature and will require a certain amount of self-study in the evenings. A good working knowledge of the Ship’s Captain Medical Guide prior to course commencement is advised. On completion, you will have an updated knowledge of medical stores and equipment on board in order to be able to maintain the required standard of competence in providing medical care and first aid on board a vessel.

Galileo Maritime Academy is directly accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom to issue MCA Approved Certificates.
