The Advanced Fire Fighting is a component module of the MCA Chief Mate (Yachts less than 3000gt) certification. This five-day course builds on basic fire knowledge, awareness and safety procedures on board. It includes elements of command and control together with the importance of stability and ship integrity. The course is structured around a number of practical searches, rescue techniques, casualty evacuation practices and live fire exercises.

Pre-requisite experience:
- Hold a Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/1-2) certificate.
- Six months must have elapsed since completing the Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/1-2) course.
Duration:
4 days.
Training towards:
Chief Mate (Yachts less than 3000gt)
Examination and assessment:
The course is examined by continual assessment. This course is based on the Merchant Navy Training Board Syllabus approved by the MCA.
