Part 3: Day 4 – On job training (optional)
Module 1 – Part 1 & 2 – Simulation Training – Learning Objectives
The first Module is carried out at the Simulators housed at MaritimeMT and is aimed for persons with a good theoretical & practical experience of Ship Handling. The scope of this Training Programme is to help participants gather further knowledge whilst aiming to give additional confidence and skills in their job.
In this simulation training, a wide range of vessels are utilised, from 142 mtr – 400 mtr. This training gives participants the opportunity to use and be familiar with all manoeuvring tools available like the engine power, rudder, bow/stern thrusters, anchors, tugs and mooring lines.
The introduction of environmental elements introduced will help the participant appreciate the importance of quick decision taking during a manoeuvre.
Module 2 – Part 3 – On Job Training (optional) – Learning Objectives
Delivering of information is of utmost importance. However, complementing to the theoretical tuition and the Simulation Training, we also suggest on job training which is carried out locally (Valletta or Marsaxlokk port depending on inbound/outbound traffic) of various type of vessels, from small Bulk carriers, Tankers, Passenger Ships and Container Ships as large as 400 mtr. Although optional, we offer this part of the training on a complimentary basis (1 day).
Participants are given the opportunity to be present onboard ships entering Marsaxlokk Port and Valletta Port (Malta) accompanied by the Pilot on duty.
