Professional Crew Development Training Programme - Option 4 - choose a programme and have the flexibility of having up to 12 months to complete your training courses from the date of purchase. Select from any of our training course dates throughout the 12 months to suit you.

Superyachts – This options is aimed at people going for – Engineer or Deckhand crewing positions.

Training Programme

• STCW Basic Safety Training Course (5 Days) – The minimum Health and Safety training required for working on commercial vessels;
• STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (1 Day) – More useful in Superyacht with smaller crew allowing you to stand a watch on the vessel;
• RYA Powerboat Level 2 (2 Days) – Learn how to drive powerboat upto 10m useful when on ship for driving tenders;
• Basic Navigation and Seamanship – (Online 12 Hours) (For 2 day Classroom course Add £100.00) – An introduction the charts and basic navigation;
• RYA Competent Crew (Sail) (5 Days Practical) – + £740.00 (A fully catered residential 5 day sailing course around the fantastic local water of Cornwall Learning the basic sail skills). OR RYA Helmsman course (Motor) (2 Days); + £450.00. Learn the Basic helming skills on larger motorboats;
• Day Skipper Theory – Online or (For 5 Day Classroom course Add £125.00) – learn the basic navigation and passage planning for maritime passage;
• Approved Engine Course part 1 (AEC) (5 Days) – The Minimum required course for working as an engineer on commercial vessels;
• Approved Engine Course part 2 (AEC2) (5 Days) – expand on your knowledge from the AEC1 with Hydraulics refrigeration, regulations etc.

(FREE) Diesel Engine Maintenance Course (1 Day) – This course will give you the skills to be able to perform basic maintenance on a marine diesel engine;
(FREE) VHF/GMDSS Short Range Marine Radio Course – Online or Classroom (1 Day) – Mandatory, to operate a VHF radio found on most boats for communication;
(FREE) VHF/GMDSS Short Range Marine Radio Prep & Exam Fee (4 hours) – The RYA application and exam fee + 1 hour prep before the exam;
(FREE) Food Hygiene level 1 – Online (4 Hour) – A basic understand about food hygiene and working in a kitchen/galley;
(FREE) RYA Professional Practices and Responsibility (PPR) – (Online 8 Hours) – Learn about the regulations and responsibilities for skippers, operating commercial vessels.
