This advanced STCW course is essential for seafarers assigned to provide onboard medical care, especially those working offshore or progressing toward an MCA Master 500 CoC. It equips you to manage medical emergencies at sea and deliver extended care until shore-based medical assistance becomes available.
Course Content:
- Clinical Patient Assessment
Conduct comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and manage respiratory and cardiovascular issues.
- Advanced Emergency Procedures
Apply wound closure techniques (suturing, stapling), give injections, and maintain onboard medical equipment.
- Coordination with Shoreside Medical Services
Follow TMAS protocols to consult with medical professionals and administer remote-guided treatment.
- Prolonged Care & Nursing Onboard
Plan and execute care for serious conditions, control infection risk, and maintain medical documentation to professional standards.
Training is delivered at our MCA-approved medical training centre in Phuket.

Entry Requirements
Minimum age: 16 years
Valid Medical First Aid (MFA, A-VI/4-1) certificate issued by a maritime authority from an IMO White List country
If MFA has expired:
– Candidate must have 6 months of documented sea service within the last 5 years or
– Must retake the MFA course prior to enrolment
A good command of spoken and written English (training and assessment are conducted in English)
