Although there is a syllabus for the RYA Day Skipper, Balazs (aka Bali) tutored the course to ensure there was forever challenge even it was over and above the course content. He was also very skilled at repeating challenges that needed a little more practice without repeating the same exercise. Happy to let the more adventurous also 'give it a go' whilst ensuring that safety was at the forefront of the mind.
I was recommended Palma Sea School by a professional sailor who has done many courses through them. I am very happy to recommend them onto others too.

I took the Yachtmaster Offshore practical course and exams in August 2023. The school is strategically located just in front of the marina. We spend a week of training and two full days of exams. It was a very productive and fun time. The boat we practice on is in perfect condition, and the course is well organized and professionally presented. Each of us (there were four cadets onboard) has enough seatime to practice the skills necessary for the exams. Our instructor, Bali, did a hard job to keep enough pressure on us to motivate us to learn new things without ever rising his voice. The atmosphere thought the course was very friendly, though professional. I should also mention Jo Boycott, operations manager of the school, who is always on top of the situation, proactive, and did a lot of work to have our papers in order for exams.

My wife and I have just successfully completed the RYA competent crew and day skipper sailing courses with Palma Sea School. First off the Palma Sea School team have been amazing in the form of Jo and Bali. Jo couldn’t have been more helpful: just for starters when our accommodation arrangements changed and we decided to take up the offer to stay on Millie (their sailing training yacht), Jo got everything sorted even though we asked at the very last minute. Bali was a superb instructor and lovely chap to boot. For example he took extra time to coach one of our fellow students patiently through the theory they were struggling with. Top notch instruction/coaching in a methodical, entertaining and enjoyable way. My wife, a complete sailing novice, said she couldn’t have enjoyed the experience more. If you want to do RYA courses, I can't recommend Palma Sea School highly enough.

It was a wonderful experience thanks to Steve (a truly fantastic, kind and patient instructor) and Jo (excellent at all office related assistance). The boat we used, Bavaria 46, was incredibly clean and well maintained.
Palma, and surrounds, are an amazing location to learn any sailing / boat related skills, as well as to spend time exploring. The location of the harbour is right on the edge of old town Palma
Highlights were:
Inadvertently joining in a few regatas and seeing the black carbon sail racers up close.
The night sailing and anchoring for a swim in a small cala.
Practicing sailing skills between two buoys and good wind, with the Palma cathedral as a backdrop.
Sleeping on the boat at night and then walking into the city for an early morning coffee.H M

I have Sailed around the world and then I have done this course, I wish I did it the other way around. Coming from a high performance environment at my work coaching professional Tennis, my standards are very high when it comes to who is teaching me in anything. I never felt I learnt so much stuff in such a short time as I felt with John, he makes complicated things easier to learn, he is very professional, knowledgeable and committed when it comes to teaching, you will finish this course as prepared as you could be for the exam, the rest is up to you.

Steven Ginger, the Principal and chief instructor of the school, is a highly professional (demanding) instructor with a great sense of humor and a talented teacher with an individual approach to each and every trainee.
The Fairline Phantom 46 flybridge for the course is wonderful and is the perfect tool to enhance your skills throughout training! The course is incredibly informative and covers all aspects of engine checks, right through enhancing your handling capabilities, safety, chartwork and night navigation.
John O'Hara our Irish theory teacher (Yachtmaster Instructor and sailboat fanatic) explanations were clear, concise and informative (sprinkled with funny jokes to create a relaxed and friendly environment) to the expected level and beyond.

Because there is so much content covered most of it can’t be taught in great depth. With this in mind I’m very glad to have had such a fantastic instructor (it always inspires me to meet people who truly “know their stuff”)

Amazing week doing the Day Skipper course. Since the first time I stepped in Palma Sea School they kindly attended me and answered all my questions. Then we met Steve, the instructor, who has years and years of experience and is a great teacher. Clear instructions, mixing theory and practice and giving us great advice and time "behind the wheel" to feel confident with the handling of the boat and learn lots of safety manoeuvres. I would totally recommend Palma Sea School.

Palma Sea School (especially Jo Boycott), were very friendly and helpful. They were accurate and quick with their information and went the extra mile to answer all my questions. In the end, due to Covid and various schedules, it wasn't possible to finally do a course with them. However, if everybody at the school is as client orientated as the admin is, than I am sure it is a pleasure to work with them.

A wonderful immersion into the world of sailing! The 5 days competent crew course was a wonderful overload on information that kept me focused and present. The training was highly practical I learned by making mistakes - everything remained under control thanks to our fun and extremely experienced captain John who always i mean always gave us positive constructive feedbacks!! Thank you John for sharing your loving compassion tome and the other 3 students and for showing us your passion for the sea and smooth sailing out and about in the elements- including navigation during night - super cool!!! My body loved the unusual movements my hands got stronger with better circulation I trained my balance and the core got stronger and I was burning fat :)!!10'000 steps per day on the sailing yacht -as one of the co-crew students measured!!!! We went swimming daily diving into the most gorgeous turquoise waters! Visiting dream places. I am eager to carry on to the day skipper course!

If you are looking for your RYA centre in Palma you just found one. I've recently completed practical preparation for my Yachtmaster Offshore followed by successful exam. The staff is working hard to make sure everyone is looked after before and after the course. All three of us passed very hard exam so i think this speaks for it self. Thank you to our instructors and to Luke for going above and beyond to make sure everything was tip top. A+++

I first heard about Palma sea school after completing my STCW course at their sister school "South West Maritime Academy" in the UK, after expressing interest in completing my RYA day skipper course I joined the next available course to which it didn't disappoint, can't think of anything better than receiving the highest quality of training available in the sun on board a gorgeous princess v42 hard top.

My girlfriend and I did the Dayskipper motor course from the 14.-17. of January 2019.
In the beginning there was no course available for this time slot, but since we wanted to do the course in the beginning of January, the school reacted flexible and offered us an extra time slot .We really enjoyed it and I definitely recommend the school. The whole team was very pleasant and we already think about taking our next course with the Palma Sea school...
